Is Erythritol A Safe Sweetener
Bai, Core, Huberts Diet Lemonade, Blossom Water, and Vitamin Water Zero are sweetened with the sugar alcohol erythritol. This sweetener can wreak havoc on healthy gut bacteria,;which;can lead to a whole host of diseases and if youre trying to lose weight or stay slim, keeping your gut healthy is vital!
Erythritol is also known to cause diarrhea, stomach upset, headache when consumed in normal amounts, is a powerful insecticide, and can also increase appetite just like artificial sweeteners do so youll end up eating more food.;Research by Cornell University shows that the body metabolizes erythritol and associates high levels of erythritol in the blood to weight gain, which has spawned more studies.
Although this is a naturally occurring sugar that is sometimes found in fruit, food manufacturers dont actually use the natural stuff. Instead they usually start with GMO corn and then put it through a complex fermentation process to come up with chemically pure erythritol.

What You Are Drinking Is As Important As What You Are Eating Every Day
My main go-to drink is plain filtered water. I filter my own water at home and always carry a stainless steel or glass container of filtered water around with me to the gym, in the car, to meetings, and even to some restaurants! Drinking toxin-free water makes a major difference in the way I feel and I consider it a vital part of my everyday life. But, it can be boring to just drink water all the time! These;are some other healthy drinks I personally enjoy:
- Organic Raw Kombucha My favorite local organic brand is Lenny Boy.;
- Sparkling or Soda Water + Lime Juice + Organic Cranberry Juice
- Filtered Water + Fresh Cucumbers + Fresh or Frozen Strawberries
- Sparkling or Soda Water + Fresh Lemon or Lime Juice + Grated Ginger. Consider adding melon, cucumbers, or berries for different flavors!
- 100% Raw Coconut Water
- Organic Unsweetened Green and Herbal Tea . Peppermint and ginger teas are great for satisfying cravings for something sweet!

I Personally Prefer The Taste Of A Real Squeeze Of Lemon Or Fruit Juice In My Water Over Anything That Is Found In These Drinks They Just Taste Artificial To Me And I Like To Know Exactly What Im Drinking
I feel like if something tastes like lemon, then it should actually contain lemon! And it honestly just takes two seconds to ;squeeze some fresh lemon juice into sparkling water and know exactly what youre drinking. Thats not to mention all the nutrients that you are getting from the lemon juice as wellbecause natural flavors may have zero calories, but they also have zero nutrition and provide zero;health benefits.
Is Powerade Zero Good For Weight Loss
The main reason people choose zero-calorie drinks like Powerade Zero is to lose weight. But the evidence shows that artificial sweeteners are;surprisingly ineffective for weight loss.
That is, youd expect that switching from sugar to artificial sweeteners would cause significant weight-loss but in most studies, they cause little to no weight loss.
One explanation is this: Artificial sweeteners keep you accustomed to sweet foods. So you still get cravings for;sweets, and youll probably end up eating more calories from somewhere.
That said, the studies I reviewed suggested that sucralose doesnt cause weight gain, either. So sucralose likely wont make you gain or lose weight.
The key to weight loss is your overall calorie balance. So if your goal is weight loss, then consider tracking your calories as I describe in this postor else follow some of these 18 tips for weight loss without counting calories.
Whether you drink Powerade Zero will not make or break your weight-loss journey by itself.

Drink Less: Fruit Juice
Your mom served up OJ every day with breakfast, and you grew to love it. The labels display tempting photos of colorful fruit. But are juices healthy diabetic drinks for blood sugar and weight control? A regular juice habit is associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, according to a study published in Diabetes Care. In terms of nutrition, a piece of real fruit is a better deal . A 4-ounce serving of 100 percent orange juice has 56 calories, 12 grams carbohydrates, and no fiber; compare that to a small fresh orange, which has 45 calories, 11 grams carbohydrates, and 2 grams of blood-sugar-controlling fiber. That said, people with diabetes can indulge in a little 100 percent fruit juice once in a while, says registered dietitian Dawn Menning, a certified diabetes educator in Los Angeles, CA. They should just know the amount of juice they are consuming and factor the number of carbohydrates into their eating plan, she says.
How much: Juice lovers, eat fruit or switch to a low-sodium veggie juice, which is much lower in calories and carbohydrates than fruit juice. If youre really craving juice, try a 4-ounce serving with a meal. Test your blood sugar afterward, and then repeat with the same meal for the next three or four days. If your blood sugar doesnt rise more than 35 to 50 points, a little juice could be fine. Now that you know the best drinks for people with diabetes, read on for more lifesaving things people with diabetes can do.

Does Powerade Zero Affect Blood Sugar
I wasnt able to find any research directly on whether Powerade Zero raises blood sugar. However, Powerade Zero contains sucralose, which has been shown to affect insulin resistance.
Sucralose is not absorbed in the small intestine like normal sugar, so it ends up in the large intestine.;Apparently, it alters your gut bacteria there, affecting your tolerance to carbs.
I also found discussions of artificial sweeteners causing insulin issues through another mechanism. That is, the sweet taste of sucralose may trigger an insulin response even without real sugar in your bloodstream.
So, proceed with caution. If blood-sugar control is crucial for you, Id recommend testing whether Powerade Zero has any affect for you.
Is Powerade Better Than Gatorade
Powerade has more vitamins than Gatorade Neither has any fat or protein. However, Gatorade contains 10 more calories and slightly more sodium than Powerade per serving. On the other hand, Powerade packs more micronutrients, including magnesium, niacin, and vitamins B6 and B12, which play important roles in your body.

Are Sports Drinks Safe For Diabetics
While it is important to prevent dehydration and replace electrolytes that you might lose through excessive sweating, you must also consider the amount of carbohydrates and calories that you are consuming throughout the day. Below is information on some common sports drinks. You can see the difference in the amount of carbohydrates and calories. Gatorade: 50 calories, 14 carbohydrates Mountain Dew Sport: 95 calories, 24 carbohydrates All Sport: 70 calories, 19 carbohydrates Rehydrate: 40 calories, 10 carbohydrates Performance: 100 calories, 25 carbohydrates So for example, if you consume four 8-oz bottles of Gatorade, you have taken in 200 calories and 56 grams of carbohydrates â and those values double if you are drinking 16-oz bottles. The calories and carbohydrates can add up quickly, causing high sugar levels. The best practice is to look at each brandâs calorie and carbohydrate counts and the number of drinks that you are consuming a day to determine if it is within your daily caloric and carbohydrate requirements. It’s also a good idea to supplement sports beverages with plain water. Learn more in the Everyday Health Diabetes Center.Continue reading >>
The Hint Flavored Water Lawsuit Is Exposing Natural Flavors For What They Really Are
Although the ingredient label on Hint Flavored Water just states purified;water and natural flavors, Hint has been sued because their drinks contain propylene glycol a synthetic ingredient. Propylene glycol is one of the hidden ingredients that was used in their natural flavors and doesnt need to be listed on the label. This goes back to my point that whenever you are drinking something with natural flavors, it is not necessarily natural and you dont know whats really in the bottle.
LaCroix states their flavors contain no artificial ingredients, but they also are not under any obligation to disclose exactly whats in them, so we just have to take their word for it.
There is no legal requirement to disclose whats in the natural flavor. So customers have no choice but to believe companies when they say they dont use artificial additives in their flavors. ~ The Mysterious Allure of LaCroixs Natural Flavor; WIRED, December 15, 2016
I dont consider it safe to drink out of cans often because of the BPA that is usually present in them. This is what LaCroix says about the presence of BPA in their cans, which I dont find reassuring, especially since I know how inefficient the FDA is at setting guidelines for the chemicals in our food

Is Powerade Good For You
May 28, 2021
Powerade is a popular sports drink, designed to give you energy and hydration when youre exercising hard. It even sounds like a healthy choice, as the drink gives you electrolytes, vitamins, and plenty of water. So, is Powerade good for you or is that whole idea just marketing hype?
The answer to this question partly depends on who you are. Despite the sports drink marketing, it isnt just athletes that drink Powerade. Many of us use it when weve been for a short run or even just as a tasty drink on a hot afternoon.
Using Powerade in that way isnt the best idea. As youll see in this post, Powerade is formulated for athletes and isnt nearly as helpful when youre using it as a standard drink.
Plus, like Vitaminwater and Gatorade, Powerade is a manufactured product that uses additives to give it the desired flavor, color, vitamins, and minerals. Not surprisingly, this type of drink isnt nearly as powerful as getting nutrients and electrolytes from natural foods and drinks instead.

The Best Electrolyte Drinks For Diabetes
1. Coconut Water: A study from 2012 and a study from 2015 found that coconut water has anti-glycation properties, kidney protection, prevented hyperglycemia and oxidative stress. It is an excellent source of potassium, chloride, magnesium, calcium, sodium, b-vitamins, enzymes, and vitamin C.
The best way to enjoy coconut water is to buy a young coconut, take a hammer to the top, and enjoy it fresh and raw. If you want to buy coconut water in the store, you need to be more selective since many companies;are going out of their way to deliver cheap coconut water that lasts for two years on a shelf, often from concentrate and with added sugar and flavors. That should make you suspicious.
What you want to look for is coconut water in the refrigerated section, that uses young coconuts, is not pasteurized, and does not contain any added ingredients like natural flavors, fruit juice or sugar. The companies I have found that follow these guidelines include Harmless Harvest, Unoco, Liquitera, Vital Juice, and Juice Press. Many of these use a process called HPP, which sterilizes the juice with pressure instead of heat. This keeps the vitamins and enzymes in tact.

Should You Drink Powerade
Powerade is marketed as a sports drink and, in that context, it might be helpful. The combination of electrolytes, sugar, and water can help athletes to rehydrate quickly, while also providing them with energy and keeping their electrolytes well-balanced.
Even the sugar and calories in Powerade might not be bad for high performance athletes, as they are burning calories as part of their exercise.
The biggest problem comes when people treat sports drinks as just another beverage. Unless youre exercising heavily, youre not going to need the extra electrolytes in Powerade. They might even be dangerous if you drink Powerade too often.
The sugar and artificial ingredients wont do you any favors either.
Also, if youre going to use Powerade, pay close attention to the amount that you drink and the frequency. Be careful with the ingredients label too, as this can be a little misleading.
For example, the 28 fl oz. version of the blue Powerade contains 80 calories per serving and 21 grams of added sugar. But, that isnt the total for the whole bottle, as there are 2.5 servings in the bottle.
The Best Sweetener For Homemade Electrolyte Drinks
To make a natural electrolyte replacement that is also good for athletes to replenish their energy in the form of carbohydrates, wed want approximately 40-50 grams of sugar, which is 10-12 teaspoons in a half-gallon.
Id rather use honey, which is a much better carbohydrate energy source because honey contains different natural sugars fructose , glucose, maltose, and a very small amount of sucrose. Each of these sugars tends to be absorbed into the bloodstream at a slightly different rate instead of all at once.
Besides that, there are other benefits to honey, especially natural raw honey, that white sugar certainly does not share. It still increases your glycemic index, however, so for diabetics it is no better than sugar .

Is Gatorade Zero As Good As Water
For fitness enthusiasts who prefer a flavored beverage during shorter workouts, G2 or Gatorade Zero are lower-sugar options to considerprovided youre comfortable with artificial sweeteners. To Use Honey We Do A Little More Math To Figure Out How Much To Use:
Honey = 16 grams of sugar in a tablespoon
We want between 40-50 grams of sugars in our drink, a little lower for people who are just replacing sweat, Id think, and higher for hardcore athletes in training . So thats between 2-3 tablespoons of honey for a half-gallon.

That amount is a good sweet for some, but considering your average American is expecting double that, we can make up the sweet without extra unnecessary carbs with a little stevia.
Gatorade happens to have a low calorie version of the sports drink called G2. Guess how many carbs it has? 40 grams per half-gallon, exactly what it should have. The remainder of the sweet is made up of Sucralose and acesulfame potassium, another artificial sweetener i.e. poison. We can do better than that!
Drinks For People With Type 2 Diabetes
Choosing the right drinks for people with diabetes is as important as choosing the right foods, and it isnt always simple. Is coffee helpful or harmful to insulin resistance? We reviewed the research and then asked three top registered dietitians, who are also certified diabetes educators, what they tell their clients about seven everyday drinks for people with diabetes.
